NYU Colloquium: The Subjective Experience of Time: Trauma, Non-responsive Parenting and the Vacuity of the Future

Friday, March 9 2 7:30pm

Lively temporality is a complex dimension of personal vitality; as forward flow, as mobile memory, as a sign of basic trust in one’s’ effect on others. Nonresponsive “care” can lead to a feeling of futurelessness, a gray, flat world without hope and agency. Video illustrations of infant-caregiver interactions and applications to adult clinical work will be offered for discussion. *Free event & open to the public*

Speakers: Stephen Seligman, DMH; Discussants: Chris Bonovitz, Ph.D., Adrienne Harris, Ph.D., Marsha Levy-Warren, Ph.D.

Location: NYU Kimmel Center, Room 803, 60 Washington Sq. South
