Featuring: Mark Blechner, Ph.D., author of The Dream Frontier, Sex Changes, and other work from the front line of psychoanalytic evolution.
Dream material provided by Helen Fronshtein, Psy.D., candidate-in-training.
The dream is at the cutting edge of psychoanalysis today. Dr. Blechner will demonstrate some of the new ways we can use dreams to enter into the
clinical work using the format of Live Dream Supervision. Live Supervision is an exciting and informative way to show the psychoanalytic learning
process in action, giving a flavor of what an essential aspect of training is like, and in this case providing expert perspectives on contemporary dreamwork.
Helen Fronshtein, Psy.D., is a second-year candidate in the adult psychoanalytic program at WAWI, in full time private practice in downtown Manhattan. She conducts treatment in both English and Russian languages.
In conjunction with group discussion, Dr. Blechner will elaborate ways in which the dream may be informative, even in the absence of additional material. We will see the power of the dream to reflect essential and hidden elements of the psychic life of the treatment.
Bring your questions about training and join us for what promises to be a lively evening of open discussion.
Following the program refreshments will be served, with the opportunity to speak informally with candidates and
graduates of the psychoanalytic training program at White.
