Direct responses to: Andrew Tatarsky, Ph.D.
I have positions available for two post docs at my new facility, the Center for Optimal Living, in Manhattan. The Center offers comprehensive psychotherapy and training based on Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy for individuals with addictive and other disorders, as described in my book, Harm Reduction Psychotherapy, as well as in a series of journal articles and book chapters.
I have developed a new paradigm for treating previously stigmatized populations that empowers patients by applying principles of good clinical practice to issues that have heretofore largely been approached in a formulaic and, unfortunately, generally unsuccessful manner. The approach that I have helped create and espouse is now accepted and employed by treatment centers in Ohio (Integrated Services of Appalachian Ohio), New York City (Housing Works), Chicago (Behavioral Services Center), Chile (Fundacion Parentasis), China, Poland, Austria, Russia, Ukraine and other nations as the best approach to treating individuals with addictive disorders.
The Center works with adults, adolescents and families and has a specialization in addictive disorders but works with a general psychology practice population as well. It is located in mid-town Manhattan at 5th Avenue and 31st Street.
Post doctoral candidates will be involved in all aspects of the Center for Optimal Living. Candidates will provide assessment, psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, family therapy and other treatment modalities. There will likely be opportunities for research for those interested but it is not a requirement. As the Center is a new facility, candidates will have opportunities to learn about and participate in all aspects of program development, community outreach, practice management and other components involved in building a successful psychotherapy practice.
All of the clinicians at the Center for Optimal Living are licensed clinical psychologists. Candidates will receive a minimum of one hour individual supervision per week from a staff member. Additionally, candidates will participate in a weekly 90 minute group supervision that I run.
Interested candidates should send their CV and a letter of interest to: firstname.lastname@example.org
