About the event:
Professor Bass will discuss his forthcoming book on fetishism and summarize some of the significant moments in his earlier work that touch upon this theme. He will situate his own views in relation to other major writers on the history of fetishism.
About the speaker:
Alan Bass, PhD, Licensed Psychoanalyst, is in the private practice of psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, and supervision in Manhattan. He is Training and Supervising Analyst and faculty member at the Contemporary Freudian Society, IPTAR, and NPAP, and on the graduate faculty of the New School for Social Research. He is author of Interpretation and Difference (Stanford University Press, 2006), and Difference and Disavowal: The Trauma of Eros (Stanford University Press, 2000), as well as numerous articles and book reviews, and has presented at many psychoanalytic institutes. He is also well known for his translations of works by Jacques Derrida.
